Howsa bout a chat room, here at home on Camaro5.com for all the chatty "post-whores" clogging the boards with their lives. lol

That would require the Admins to purchase or develop software to allow chat here on Camaro5.com There may be some shareware out there but again that takes some web development to make it work.

If Tran or Mark haven't seen this, I'll pass a message on to them.

It's a good idea, but I just use AIM for that. You can add your handle in your profile information, and everyone could just compile a buddy list on AIM.

Good point, but if you have used Gmail and the chat feature it totally ROCKS. I will add my AIM and YahooIM handles in my profile. Feel free to reach out to me everyone.

what about the people who don't have & never plan to have them AIM or Gmail thing-a-ma-bobs. i'd talk with y'all on here, but as for all the weirdos and perfectly normal people on the rest of the Interweb, i don't really care too much to chat.

I'm pretty sure there is a native functionality of this PHPBB for a chat window. At least I know I've seen it on more than one forum I've been involved with, and they function the same so I'm pretty sure it's inherent code with the forum.

Which is not to say it wouldn't still be a royal PITA...but I think it exists. Have we had this conversation before? I feel a bit of dejavu here.

Great idea, Having a chatroom here would be awsome, I would use it.An upgrade and something new and usefull (in my opinion) to camaro5.com has a truck full of members. why the hell not? Do it. And if you guys do it? when will it be up?

I think the actual instant messaging should be left to the IM type sites...AOL, AIM, etc.

I think that adding an instant messaging board would take away from the sites usefulness as an information board and tool. Too many people would be in an instant message "chat room" and many different topics would be brought up in one conversation. However, others might want to know and learn that same info....but, it would end up being all locked away in a chat room thread. I think that would take away from all the specific areas of the site and that wouldn't be too cool.

I think it should be kept seperate for those special times that are needed
