My 2012 Camaro V6 CAI intake install

I know I'm a little late in the game for a review, but it's new for me.

I just installed a cold air intake from Cold Air Inductions and am quite pleased with the quality, looks, and performance. Kit arrived well packaged in one box. Lots of protective wrap and film to remove but that's a good thing. All components are of exceptional quality, detailed color photo instructions, just a great quality kit overall.

Fittament was near perfect; I was especially impressed with how well the airbox formed a good seal. It's obvious CAI does it right, no cheap shortcuts here:

My only complaint comes with how tightly the MAF sensor wiring must remain with the install. The sensor port is located at almost the top of the ceramic pipe, whereas the factory pipe had it plugging in more front facing. The ceramic pipe can only be rotated so far to accomodate because it must also accomodate the crankcase vent tube. I may see if I can work the wiring a bit to allow more slack:

Overall I'm very impressed with the kit. Car idles smoother, light pedal acceleration is smoother, MPG is a bit better, it looks killer, and most importantly, a good stomp on the pedal produces a much stronger sound with better jump. More pics:

Thanks to JDP Motorsports and Cold Air Inductions..

Did you also do the Scoop or just the CAI by itself? I ordered both pieces with the washer relocation, and am awaiting for the CAI piece to arrive. How long did it take to install?

Wow, that seriously is a nice kit.

I was sorta somewhat waiting to see if Vararam would come out with something to fit the 2012, but if that's not going to happen anytime soon, this might be the way I go as well.

I used just the CAI kit, no scoop or washer bottle relocation. Install was pretty easy, a little more than an hour taking time for pics and such. I saw the scoop and washer bottle relocation kits but didn't want to mess with that. Looks like it'll push some air from the lower grill area though.

I reworked the electrical tape where the MAF sensor wiring comes out to get an extra 1/2" or so of slack, seems okay now. Prolly best to get everything in place leaving MAF sensor for last. Before tightening hose clamps, install vent tube hose and rotate the ceramic coated pipe as much as possible to bring MAF port more front facing. Check MAF sensor wiring fit, tighten hose clamps to keep angle good, then install MAF sensor.

Steelsix, my cai from CAI is due in this week, have been waiting for delivery for 2 1/2 weeks now. Great pictorial, they will help me with my install. An idea on the MAF wiring.......try routing the wiring around the other side of the power steering resivouer, and run the wiring around the top side of the aluminum tube instead of underneath......

Does the 12 CAI have a pipe or hose you need to attach to the intake unlike the 10 and 11

The 2012 kit has a silicone hose and a silver ceramic coated aluminium tube (comes in black powder coated too).

Yes CAI makes a very nice high quality product. The install is about as easy as installIng a decal. In fact installing a decal might be easier to screw up.

A more throaty sound with moderate pedal in 1st thru 3rd and downshifting/passing. A lot more sound with pedal to floor starts. Seems to be a noticable gain under all conditions. I'm mainly liking the improved feel while trying to conserve gas, seems smoother and more responsive with less pedal with conservative acceleration.

@ vkerster, I thought of routing MAF wiring around the other side of power steering reservoir and running topside, too much of a bend without removing the plastic guide that routes it along a crease in the intake manifold. It's good now, I worked it enough to where it's not so tight. Thanks for the suggestion.

Does anyone have any problems with the CAI setting off the check engine light? Just want to make sure before I buy one.
