I would recommend Gibbs br30 for about 500 miles as a precaution.

I used a cheap oil from O'Reillys for about 10-15 minutes (get up to temps) right after cam swap, and then drained it, and put on a new filter and whatever oil you want to use from then on.

I run Amsoil Z-Rod

You get a million answers but as long as it has higher zinc content, it should be fine. Im going to run Gibbs LS30 but again, thats just my preference

Call up your Cam manufacturer and ask, as I have done.

You may be surprised at the answer(or not).

Report back. :cigarette:

We use Driven Racing BR30 for break-in. 500 miles then it comes out and we run LS30. Hope that's helpful.

All the best,

Roller cam. I use just the regular oil. If it were flat tappet cam then I would be concerned.

Another vote on Driven BR30 oil on break-in. That is what we send with our shortblocks and engines.

I use the same oil I always used. The only thing different I did was changed the oil a couple hundred miles after the cam swap.

Joe Gibbs LS30, don't use Mobil 1. If you aren't running cats, you are able to use heavier additive packages in your oil and they won't clog the cats.

I completely agree that break in oil is not needed after a cam swap, but it's cheaper and IMO it's a good idea to change the oil after the dyno runs at the latest. So why waste $10/qt for ls30 that would get dumped at 100 miles or so when you could get BR30 for about half the price?
Your go-to oil after that should be something better than Mobil 1. I chose LS30...
