The "4H" was the first thing I noticed too, except the organization didn't occur to me. Good catch!

Well I don't think this is a poll thread, but I am neutral on the issue.
You can put the old 8-ball on for a shift knob if you like that flavor. I like things to be original. I see so many old cars like '56 Bel Airs with nice bodies and the owner goes and puts modern custom crap on it. So do those custom restore shows like Counting Cars, where Danny takes an admittedly bad wreck and just restores it with modern wheels, tires, paint that the manufacturer never dreamed of, and anything else he can think of. Not that that's a bad way to go per se, but I have yet seen an episode where they just restore it the way it rolled off the assembly line. I have seen the gated shifter on Mustangs, Challengers and GT-Rs. What about NASCARS, NHRAs, and check out the COPOs. It may be my imagination but I think I have seen these. |

I remember a top gear review of a Lamborghini Gallardo, I think special edition balboni (spelling?) something or other. And it had a gated shifter. And whoever was driving it commented about the sound the metal shifter shift made on the gates and how awesome and mechanical it sounded. I loved the idea of them ever since. I just like the sound they make. Kind of like racking a handgun slide. Just so mechanical sounding and I love that.
I actually like that my hurt short throw is louder for that reason. |

One project on my custom fab to-do list is a gated shifter (one that doesn't inhibit quick-shifts), and it's not too far down my list.
