(Very Nearly) Lifting the Inside Front [AutoX]

Did I outgrow the Z28 kit?

So at this point I'm pretty content with the Z28 setup from GM. I like how neutral it is with square tires and a fair bit of camber/caster/SAI. Car felt decent last weekend but I noticed it had a fair bit more bodyroll in pictures now that I've got the pressures and alignment dialed for the 275 Toyo slicks. I also think I can see light under my inside front tire with this smaller, budget R-comp.

From what I understand this has to do with my front roll stiffness being a fair bit greater than my rear, and the typical remedy would be to stiffen the rear a bit. However, I like the balance as is and I enjoy how well the rear hooks mid-corner. When I move to 335 Hoosiers I feel like this will be exaggerated even further.

The way I see it, I can "upgrade" to bigger adjustable bars front and rear and just bring the overall roll stiffness up, or do the same by moving to coilovers with something stiffer than what the Z28 offers (I believe that's at 300/500 lb F/R respectively).

Any feedback? Looking at the Pfadt 32 mm adjustable bars F/R AND/OR the MCS double adjustable coilover setup with some big boy spring rates. Ride quality need not apply.

I'll probably just get the new meats first, and build the car around this.

I wonder if not having upgraded rear subframe bushes is doing this...

Body roll

I can tell you from my own experience the following. I had a C5Z06 before my current Z28. I lowered the car all the way down on stock bolts and added giant T1 sway bars and added lots of camber. I was trying to avoid the expense of coilovers. The car still had tons of body roll. The Z28 with the DSSV suspension is unbelievable with respect to body roll. There's is absolutely none. The car is completely flat in the hardest corners no matter what the speed is and regardless of the track. It's absolutely amazing!

While I do not plan on trakin my car(I like the 1/4), I do DD this car an appreciate good handling.....and to the question on rear sub-frame bushings I recently installed Prothane inserts....made IMHO massive improvement in how the rear "feels" and for only $30...now if or when I decide to move up in a major way then solid bushings would be on the list but this inexpensive upgrade at least proves the mod is worth it..good luck

if you still have those nylon plastic sub frame bushings, stop what your doing and order some solids lol. seriously though, i have an early 2011, so same car as a 2010. it made a huge real immediate improvement to my car. i dont autocross. im not sure if i suck at autocross because i dont do it, or i dont do it cause i suck at it lol. i do road course and a lot of it. the bushings are the ticket. bang for the buck huge improvement. the only other one change that made that big of an improvement was going to the wider rear sway bar from the narrow pos that came on the car.

Haha it's been on my to-do list but I'm one of those guys who hates doing something twice. So I planned to do exhaust/shifter/driveline/subframe/diff/axles all at once.

I guess I'll see how it acts after that.

Just ordered some from pegasus. Here's hoping it lives up to the hype

There is no hype with pegasus, those bushing are great and so is the price.

You wont be disappointed
