1st Autocross

ran my 2011 2lt convert. over the weekend a local Autocross event. over 8 runs on the day I improved my time by 11 secs. I am happy with that, certainly not the fastest but continued improvement with each pass.

I ran in Sport mode (auto) letting the car shift. i found on two runs I hit the upshift paddle during cornering which from then on out its is in manual mode and required me to shift. Pain in the a$$ when your concentrating on the course and not hitting those orange cones!
I ran one run in "drive" and noticed I was in to high a gear at times.

The Pirrelis stuck like glue and would need a more aggressive drive style than mine right now to break them loose. All in all I was very impressed and satisfied with the cars performance.

Was a Mustang GT in my class with the 450hp 5.0 motor and his best time was 3 seconds faster than mine, novice also, I suppose some of that is the 125 hp he has on my 3.6l.

If any of you get the chance I would tell you to run an event for yourself and the perma grin will hang on for days!

Ha! Glad you had fun. These Camaros do good at Autocross. HP is not the issue though. Its just seat time and getting experience.

Glad you discovered the joys of AutoX!

Like Roach said, HP isn't the issue. Seat time, seat time, seat time!

There's a reason the old dude in the '90s 3 series is cutting ridiculous times. It's because he knows that car and how it'll respond, inside and out.

Your V6 is well suited to AC. At the Camaro5FEST CamaroCross we have members running faster than SS owners in V6s. Seat time will get you faster followed by some suspension and brake upgrades. You can beat that other car!

Autocross is like crack for your car. It is addicting. These guys are right too, the V6 is at least as capable as the V8's. the best driver usually wins.
