Here is the full option list for the different trim levels and the RS package.

You should have a heads-up display.

Your vin# will also help verify your exact specs.

Only in 2010 and '11..... for 2012 all the taillights are previous RS versions.

If you have red SS badges you have the RS package, so your car would be a SS/RS. Included in the RS package are body colored roof trim pieces, high intensity headlights, halo headlights, and a few other items but those are the major things.

2) The difference lies within the fact that while the engines are similar, they are different engines. The L99 has active fuel management (AFM) and variable valve timing (VVT). With AFM your engine transitions from 8 cylinder mode to 4 cylinder mode and back. Many people tune this feature out eventually and it is the main culprit of exhaust drone. The LS3 has neither of these plus a different cam (from what I understand). Because of the difference in cam there is the difference in horsepower and torque.

3) Lose the throttle controller and SCT4 tune, get a ported throttle body, long tube headers, and a custom tune. If you're interested, do a washer fluid relocate and get a scoop for a couple of unmeasurable horsepower, unmeasurable because it is hard to simulate driving air flow on a dyno. If you get really itchy to keep moding, you could do gears, lowering spring/coilovers, new suspension bushings, and/or trailing arms/cradle bushings/control arms/toe rods.

Good luck, enjoy your new rids, and most importantly of all thank you for your service!!
Also just a side note on the engine differences, when I was researching the differences my self I found that not only does the LS3 have a bigger cam than the L99 but also it has a higher compression ratio. IIRC the LS3 is at 10.3 and the L99 is at 10.1 and the pistons in the L99 have valve reliefs cut into the tops, hence the compression difference. And as for the AFM on the L99 it is so the cars didn't get smacked with the gas guzzler tax I read, the LS3 has a skip shift program in it so at certain low rpms you had to skip 2nd and shift to 3rd to save fuel so they to didn't get the gas guzzler tax. Hope this is useful cause in the beginning I wondered the same. lol.
Have fun good luck and THANKS for your service sir !!

Literally just unbolted the intake manifold and bolt the headers on in place.

The only problem they had was putting the dipstick back in, which they figured out how to in another 2 minutes.
I believe he misspoke. You have to unbolt the exhaust manifold nothing with intake.

Doing it yourself isn't hard. The bolts are in pretty tight and you're working on a tight area. Don't break your spark plugs and is pretty easy.

Don't all the Camaros 2010-13 have Chrome tail light bezels . I know my 1LS does. I went and picked up Flat Black bezels to get rid of the chrome .

Thank you for your service
suspension, gears (3.73), and headers are the best mods you can do to this car. In that order. for an automatic id think the tune would make a big difference too.

The difference in the L99 being having AFM lifters and vvt along with a lower compression ratio and lower upper rev limit means differences that make up the 26 hp. also...

the correct reading is 10.7 compression ratio for the ls3

http://www.ehow.com/info_8762452_dif...e-l99-ls3.html

10.4 for the L99

Hey there, thanks for that bit of info, I was off a bit on the comp ratio.. Wasn't aware of the rev limit being lower though.
