From a genesis coupe to a '11 2SS/RS
Hey everyone,
I picked up a 2011 2SS/RS in victory red (6mt) this past Saturday. It had only 5000 on it, bone stock but it still had that new car smell! I came from a 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8 Track (ZF 6at), loved that car and did plenty of mods to it. But...I have been wanting that v8 rumble for awhile now. I grew up with my dad having some great GM cars. 87 vette (one of my first memories was riding in this thing and only seeing trees telling him to go fast. I was born in 87 so what a way to start off getting into cars right? haha), boneville sse, 96 trans am, 98 trans am, 03 grand prix gtp...and those are just the performance cars, not counting the suv's him and my mom had. So, of course when I looked for v8s I just couldn't get past that sweet sweet LS motor sound. I hope to meet alot of local members in Houston and even Texas. I participated in many local meetups and even a big Texas Genesis meetup. I'll be starting with exhaust first, then intake and then tons of visual mods. Lots of info here that I have read and I am really excited to start modding! Here of some pics of each car. Rhonda Penny |

Congrats. Give us some driving impressions comparing the two.
I briefly thought about getting the '13 Coupe, v6, 6mt, but decided that I really want a v8 instead. |

Thanks everyone, it is a huge upgrade. The genesis had every option, including navigation but of course material quality wasn't always the best. it is better now on the '13 though.

I can't compare transmission. This is my first (actually 2nd, my daily is a 5 speed) manual transmission. I have been driving stick for oh...2 1/2 months now haha. So I have alot to learn and I don't think I will be track ready for a good 6-9 months. The Camaro is my weekend car/toy so seat time is at a minimum. The genesis was great in terms of style and sleekness. I turned heads everywhere I went, but when it came time to put the pedal to the floor, it was lacking in my book. With 20'' rotary forged wheels and 285s on the back, I cut a 14 flat in the 1/4. I would say with a bit better reaction I could get to 13.9 easy. The camaro i have no doubt will do better even with my very novice skills right now. Other than that, I am glad I got a 2011 over 2010. the genesis was a first year car and it had its issues, but I am glad to see the camaro in the garage now. |

demonik, once again.....CONGRATS on the new ride, and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, wive's, husbands, girlfirends and boyfriends here don't care....and take it easy.
oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here. Welcome!!
