Keep speaking the truth around here and you'll get banned! Lol
My first mod was exactly that, headers! Then a cam, they actually make the car faster

1) The first mod should be whatever the owner of the car wants it to be. You pay for the car, you pay for the part, heck then I don't care if your first mod is a TB spacer.

2) There are many reasons why a person won't go with headers as their first mod. Maybe they don't wanna void their warranty. Maybe they don't wanna spend the $1000 that some people seem to think you have to spend to get a decent set of headers. Maybe they don't want to spend that money plus the extra money for a tuner and then extra money on top of that for a custom tune or a dyno tune. Maybe they don't have the time, tools, space, or know-how to self install them and don't wanna spend an extra few hundred dollars plus the headers, tuner, custom tune getting them installed at a shop. Maybe they just don't want headers. Maybe they have a turbo set-up in mind for the future.

No matter how you slice it or how you try to explain it or how many idiots do a self test in a garage with a 4cyl car, intakes will always be a best seller and a first mod. Why? Because it is relatively cheap at $300-$400...it takes only up to a couple hours with basic hand tools...it can be easily removed for inspection, warranty work, or to demod and sell the car...and it individualizes your car when you pop the hood. And depending on the intake, you WILL get seat of the pants performance, more hp/tq on the dyno, as well as improved 1/4 times and trap speeds.

So there are numerous arguments that makes this entire thread invalid. I personally would never recommend someone to get headers as a first mod. If anything, that should be one of the last bolt-on mods because then is when you get a tune to tie everything together. But if you think headers will ever replace intakes as the first mod or even as a top seller then you're wrong. Sure, some just look fancy and don't do much, but some of them actually do work very well.

Yes, but Alex would question who is paying the salary of the "3rd party"? wink wink

Bad example man, but I caught your drift. I'm with you on this one, lol.

This thread should be called

Always modify front to back on these cars, not rear to front.

Nuff said

My first mods were: Sway bars, springs and 1LE shocks, and 9" front wheels (square set up). Like Pirelli says "Power is nothing without control."

I'll just drop in here and say this thread is 99.99999% opinion. Lots of opinions being thrown around as facts.

As a professional installer that's been in the game for 20 years, allowing your engine to breathe better is the absolute first step to any modification process that involves more HP. Period.

Majority you see on this site will give you 3HP and a whoosh sound. They won't "lift the front end" or my personal favorite "break the tires loose!" They are mainly for looks, and getting vendors sales. If you are a "I don't want to lose my tire cap because I'll lose my warranty!" Type of guy okay I understand but ANY MAJOR CAI sold on this site will give you the same performance. I'm not a "it's just a tube with a cone" guy just we need to learn how to search CAI threads. It's been discussed 1049482002 times. Get headers or tires. Make your Camaro sound better for that price tag. For more info please use the "search" button. PLEASE USE IT FOR HEADERS TOO. PLEASE.
Sir your certainly entitled to your opinion and choose how you want to spend your money but your research and Ideas have some flaws.

The number one CAI gives 14 RWHP consistently

Some brands come close some lose power like the Ebay specials.

Quality LT Headers give 28 RWHP consistently

Top shelf CAI and Headers Together you get 40 RWHP consistently

I did all the CAI testing and all the Header testing on this platform back in 2010.

We see these numbers repeat daily on my Top of the line Superflow chassis dyno.

Ted.

You got that right. This thread, along with 99.99999999% of Camaro5, is opinion and misinformation.
