Each state is different. Cali is a pain in the butt for cars and bikes.

My state (Ohio) requires an inspection by the Highway Patrol, not only to verify its in basic safe and working order, but also to verify receipts and where the replacement parts came from (used parts need to list the donor vehicle VIN number on receipts) Then it can be listed as "rebuilt salvage" branded on the title and put back on the road.
Rule of thumb on these is rebuilt car is worth HALF of what one with a clean title is worth. Lots of places that deal in these like to pump up the value of what you are $ saving $ in their Ads. Buyer beware. |

Got to worry about stuff like this on Mars? In Louisiana, you have to have the repairs documented and State Police inspections also!
