L99 to LS3 conversion help
So I started taking the engine apart today and I noticed that the valley cover on the l99 has a knock sensor or cam position sensor on the back side next to the oil pressure sending unit. Point is, the new LS3 valley cover that i got from tsp doesn’t have this. No extensions or anything came with the kit to relocate so I’m assuming just zip tie and tuck it away ?

That is the Active Fuel Management connection. You'll need to have your L99 programmed to turn that off if you haven't already. It will be in limp mode until you program that to be off when you start it after. And yes you can zip it and tie it off. The major differences on the L99 and LS3 the lifters which you will change and the valley cover also called a VLOM for the L99s and the camshaft.

It’ll work fine with the old vlom. My afm has been tuned out for years with the l99 vlom.. but they’re real cheap.. I wanna say only like 90 bucks or so.

My recommendation, is to keep the vvt and just remove the afm parts.. the cam you would need is a Gm cam out of an L9H.. the part number is 11561283 or get an aftermarket vvt cam.. idk why anyone would take this out honestly..
