I have never drag raced my 69 with the LT1/4L60E. The transmission has a Transgo shift kit. I will manually shift the car thru the gears on the track.

Do any of you have an idea what the ideal shift RPM is for this car?

What's the RPM range on the cam? Who makes the cam? Stock or aftermarket?

How much do you love your Opti?

My car never sees more than 5200 RPM, even though the factory rev limiter 5800. I have a LT1 six speed though.

Also, factory 4h gen tach's are off. What are you using for a tach?

More info...
1. GM LT4 Hot Cam Kit.
2. Stock torque converter.
3. Autometer Phantom In dash electrical tach. Input from ECM.
4. ECM tune by pcmforless (perhaps I should ask these guys).
5. 3.73 gears with Eaton Posi unit.

With an LT4 hotcam you should be shifting out around 5900rpms on the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts.

Back in the mid-late 90's when I was still building LT1's and using this camshaft, we usually saw them peak right around 57-5800. You wanna shift 1-200 rpm past your peak.

Bryan at pcmforless suggested putting the trans in Drive NOT Overdrive, stab and steer. Let the ECM do the shifting. I will have to try both.

I just bought a Gtech to play with. One of the setup values is engine redline. Anyone know the LT4 Hot Cam redline?
