Ta HELL Wit PLAYLISTS and MP3 Players
I literally almost had a nervous breakdown trying to deal with my 80Gig ZUNE not being able to work with the Camaro. I tried everything.. and then read that there should be no more than 2500 Songs on the device. I trimmed it down and had all my Playlist ready to go... The car would play the songs, but only allow me to FFW or RW three times. After that the car would tell me that it was now safe to remove my device... I would then have to unplug it and then re-plug it in. PLAYLISTS NEVER WORKED.
Anyway... I was doing some fiddling with my 8 and 4GB Flashdrive, and decided to try and make folders instead of Playlist in Windows Media Player. WORKS LIKE A CHARM... except the indexing every time I turn the car off Anyway just make FOLDERS and put your music in them. The Search Option will list every folder U create and each song in it for easy access. |

I have my Classical in one Folder, my Guitar in another.. Hip-Hop, Comedy, Oldies, Pop... etc. It just gives me a lil more control and less fiddle around time when I speeding down the road trying to keep my eyes off the Headset selector. Once they are in a Folder, they are still listed as part of the whole if U tap Search "ALL SONGS," except now they are also in a specific folder for easier access during playback of a particular type/genre, or grouping. It's no different than going under ALBUMS or playlistin the search.. except now... "Playlist" actually WORKS as a FOLDER |

Commits weekly crime
|
I used a 32GB Flash drive for the first few months that I had the car, and dealt with the 2500 song limit and it having to start on the same song (reindex) every time the ignition was turned on...it got kind of old, especially since the song that played first was annoying as hell.
I ended up just getting a iPod (Nano at first, original 140GB one now) and it handles everything fine.

It normally takes about 1-2 minutes to index.. and the song that it plays during that time is one of my favs. U can always switch to the Radio while it indexes tho |

That's what tends to happen when you use Microsoft products... I've yet to get anything made by them work longer than 2 months...

There is no 2500 song limit, its just that the system won't recognize beyond that many. Also, it takes a $hit load of time to index all those songs. Eventually, it should respond normally if it seems unresponsive when you fist plug it in.

Hate to say it, but you better go Apple. Emmy's brother's Zune doesn't work very well either, and he has well under 2500 songs. It literally takes nearly 10 minutes to index the files, then it mixes up the track names and orders.
iPod works flawlessly, and immediately.
