Sold the Camaro

The 2000 SS is gone...it was a great car, but it's time to move on.

It was a third car, and it's now in the hands of someone who wants to drive it daily.

However, now I have the itch more than ever to get back into a big powerful v8....Camaro SS, Corvette, SRT8 Jeep...something!

I don't love the 5th gen to be honest...I'd be all over it if the auto came with the full 430 HP LS3...Im not going manual, doesn't work for me, so I feel like I'm not getting all my moneys worth. I guess I'd have to drive it to REALLY see if its enough power.

Really would love a Jeep SRT8...I almost bought one last year, but with the new one around the corner I felt like 50k was just too much...I was offered a Corvette brand new out the door for 48 with decent options.....I just felt like the two were in different leagues. Now I'm considering a certified low mile SRT8 for 30s.,..more like it. Also considering just heading out and getting the vette.

I miss my 2001 SS (sold it last June):( ..... but, I do love my 2010. Wasn't too thrilled the first time I saw the concept car back in 2006, but by 2009, I wanted that car! Couldn't see myself driving anything, but the CAMARO!! Good luck with whatever you decide.

Having had two new Camaros (one V6, one V8) I'm more apt to go for a Corvette or something with a Hemi (SRT8). I am currently in a 4 door sedan, but its been a couple years and I'm really aching to get back into a sports car.

It's PLENTY fast. Why sell the 4th gen?

Was a third car already...that was the one I never drove anymore. Had 10 good years with it, and it was time to let it go in favor of something new.

Yeah but I keep reading how heavy it is, etc...And the loss of 26 HP for choosing auto is annoying since its just as expensive as the LS3 (or more with the auto not sure?).

How does this car compare to the 330hp 370Z 0-60 wise? 1/4 mile?

I have a new maxima and I know nissan would treat me right if I traded it for a 370

26hp is negligible. The L99 actually runs faster times than the LS3 by a fraction of a second- and if you really want to say you have 426hp, then a few DIY mods will bring you up to snuff quick.

The 370z lays down a 13.4 quarter time, at 104mph. 0-60 in 5.1. Not bad numbers, but it would definitely eat my dust.

Camaro SS goes 0-60 in 4.7, and runs the quarter in 12.9.

370 has much better electronics/interior...but 5.1 is more like an F-body 0-60 and I just sold that. I have to watch some youtube vidoes of these cars.

The interior of my 2SS has me very happy. Granted, my last 3 cars were 4th generation F-bodies, but even so. Between the heated seats, the bluetooth, and the USB connectivity for my iPod, I'm one happy camper. And the cabin is QUIET, which is a BIG contrast against the interior of the 2002. I still love driving the 4th gen, but the 10 is much more refined, and makes a much better daily driver.

Not tryin to say that a 5th gen is definitely the car for you, just saying that you shouldn't short-change it before giving it a shot. It's a great ride. My only complaint would be that the exhaust is pathetically docile... :(

I agree...I wonder if a chevy dealer would put an exaust on it before it is delivered..probably right? How do you know what is legal though?

You can have GM Performance exhaust dealer-installed prior to delivery. I believe they have 3 different stages- 2 are 50-state legal, one is recommended for off-road use. (Although that is the one that I would probably go with )
