Question Those with the GM Fuel Door... How to Remove?

Hey guys, I have a questiion for those of you that have the GM fuel door as seen below. I like the door, but it is not going to fit the theme of my car anymore. I just put on some gun metal colored TSW wheels. Anyways, I want to reinstall my factory door. When I installed the billet one, it came with a small pish pin to lock in the door so it would not fall off. My question is this... How do you get the pin out for removing the door? The pin once insert sits flush with the surface. Help please.

Has anyone else had this problem or removed one of these?

Thanks

It's not supposed to be easy, to prevent theft. I tried to remove mine once and gave up.

You could try a punch tool.

sure it's a push pin and not a set screw? Mine never had one(just held by the clip), so going from one to the other is no biggie...

I'm assuming that there's no extra hardware on that fuel door and it just pops on in place of the stock one, and the stock one just pops right off. If you open the door and pull it straight towards you it'll just slip off. I just did it and dropped mine on my garage floor...sigh. If it has extra hardware it can't be that hard to take apart.

I did finally get mine off with a small long drill bit that was the same size as the pin. I just slowly ran the drill until I bore out the pin and then the door came right off.

Got it off but the retaining tabs on the door broke. Got my stock one back on so I am happy.

Yep, I am much happier with the stock one back on too. The whole fuel door thing just does not work with these cars in my opinion. I do like them on some cars like the Mustangs, but I almost think it ruins the body lines on the Camaro because it is so bulky. Had it looked like the concept It would be a different story.
