What are ya'lls thoughts on the K&N typhoon cold air intake?
I love the looks of the CAI intake but found the K&N for $275 with free shipping. The K&N website claims to give you a 18 hp gain. I like the price but want to make the right decision for my baby and find out what experiences you guys have had with this one.
Thanks for any input you guys may have.

i have K&N CAI and yes it for sure give you gains and sound . as i have been dynoed tuned 3 times now ( around 10 runs maybe more ) and have proven gains. but i do feel there are better ones out there. i only got the K&N because there werent to many on the market back in 2009. but now we have better ones. i would go with "CAI inc"

What is wrong with the K&N though? I see people saying that there are better ones out there what exactly makes them better?

Metal tube= bad? plus there are NON metal tube intakes from K&N aren't there?
mikeSS, that sounds valid I can see why that would make you want the CAI inc. one rather than th K&N. I personally went with the K&N typhoon because I know the brand is good and I like the look.

Apparently the metal soaks up more heat (which is physically true) so the air going in is a bit hotter. By no means am I an expert man, I'm just a kid that aspires to be like the cool guys on here with thousands spent on mods lol.

Lol I think we all are trying to be like those guys! "oh I just added a supercharger, pssht, not a big deal 12k haha"
But yeah I talked to MarylandSpeed about it and the metal tube is only like a foot and some change long, the air isn't in there long enough to get superheated up to the point of negating the pro's of a CAI....I dunno just my two cents

Buddy has K&N "metal" tube...gets pretty damn hot. The CAI is ceramic coated and seems to be a very popular brand on this forum. I haven't taken the jump to intake yet, but i will be going CAI. Slick look, and I liked the encased box...the gains will all be somewhat similiar. I think the CAI and Vararam are among top performers.

If I was doing this for a strickly performance reason I'd probably be on the same page, but since I'm doing it for a boost in performance and to make me love the engine bay a little bit more I'm gonna enjoy the K&N for now
