Usually the Impala symbol goes on the side, not on the center back. The center back is usually reserved for the bow tie.

^Good finds. That's the first I've seen. I just did a google image search for chevy impala and couldn't find a one like that. Maybe it's a last year deal that they changed it or something. I don't know. But, this was what I found. Oh, and Winding road had the checkered picture as a possible new Impala.

So they take off the impala emblem for the latest bodystyle and replace it with the word ONCE on the side of the trunk lid???

WTF is up with that. Oh well. I haven't paid much attention to the new impalas cuz they look fugly to me. I've always seen the emblem on the back. Selective memory I guess.

And, actually, the name on the vehicle is taped over. It looks like a short enough name to be hiding 'IMPALA' under it.

I have to say, I like the style of the 'SS'. I'd like to see that on the Camaro.

The Impala emblem is still on the current model, it's just behind the rear windows.

I find the current Impala a HUGE improvement over the last model, which was a bit ugly.

As ugly as the Impala has been lately, it doesn't matter. Because the fact that it has been FWD has made it a blasphemy that the most beautiful design in the world couldn't overcome, IMHO.

But the new Impala will be RWD, RIGHT? I like that front end on the checkered picutre above. I betcha that the white "mule" that we see is actually the Lumina SS and the above picture is going to be the Impala.

It just sounds like a better idea to me to have the Impala a little larger w/ RWD. And I agree that the name is kinda short. Looking at all the other pix, the Impala name is located on the bottom left of the trunk lid in somewhat small letters. That would be what's taped up. I'd love to see the new Impalas show up the 97' model year (last year made) w/ overall size, weight, style, and hp. I loved those old Impalas, but Caprice Classics they were. Bring back the old w/ a little twist to it and call it a 4dr family sedan w/ a big @ss engine under the hood. That'd work for me!

The new/current Impalas are still FWD .

AirGoya beat me to it but I believe the checkered car is a new malibu similar to this one.

The only big difference is no projectors on the one which looks like the production version. Maybe the checkered ones are SS's or Malibu maxx w/e??

If you go to chevy.com and look at the upcoming vehicles there is the 08 Malibu with pics and a few specs.

But you're all right, the emblem is definitely a bowtie...What I thought was teh animal...was just a wrinkle...
