The G3 killed any hopes for that.

With this news, it appears that in a few years, Pontiac won't be building anything.

Damnit! Now I'm getting pissed. This is a great car. Why is it failing. I honestly think that it needed a more fuel efficient engine added to it's lineup. If it had 30 mpgs or more me and my wife would have bought it months ago.

its not really failing. It is selling about as much as the new hyundai what ever you call it the genisis. Im not sure how true this production cut is the sources are all we have inside info that says this GM has said nothing about this and I will remain skeptical until I hear it from GM. a GM exeuctive was quoted in saying the G8 is doing pretty I will have to try to find that article/qoute.

i have yet to see a single G8 on the road. If it wasn't for carblogs/forums I wouldn't even know that car existed. I could do a better job advertising it than whoever is doing it at GM. First thing I'd do: Sell it as a Chevy instead of a Pontiac.

Not worried. The future Pontiac IS G8, like it or not...niche brand, right?....

Besides; this is a temporary reduction. There's every likelihood in the world that it gets ramped back up again in the second half of the year.

God I hope you are right. However I am sorry I just don't see the Pontiac niche thing working in terms of consumer confidence for at least 2 years or so. I also think the MPG hurt the car, I know it is incredible for the power and weight, but still since the brand name is not exactly the most respected name in the industry. Hopefully that will soon change. I am confident however that the Camaro will not meet a similair fate, due to a variety of factors including affordability, good mileage, good job marketing the car (Transformers), and did I mention a drop-dead gorgeous exterior?

mhmm...for some, the transmission defines a car's sportiness...but I thought you came to grips with the "no market for it" explanation?

I really like the G8....hope it does well....I can't help but agree that it would definitely do better if it was a Chevy....Owning a Pontiac has never been a dream of mine....
