Slow trap speed
Best I can manage at the track 13.652 @ 103.71
I am thinking I am a 4 tenths slow and about 5-7 mph off. Not sure how to post the pic so I will just write it out.. 60-2.0833 330-5.8540 1/8-8.8993 @ 81.24 1000-11.4823 1/4-13.6523 @ 103.71 Did the fuse pull an hour before lining up. Tire pressure was about 34psi per wheel. Had less then 1/4 tank of gas. T/C off. My mods are CAI intake and magnaflow comp 16580 cat back. This was on 1/29/11 @ 7:39 PM for those that want to do a DA test. I think adjusted I was at 13.4? Did a second run with a bad 60ft 60-2.1358 330-6.0086 1/8-9.1252 @ 79.48 1000-11.7665 1/4-13.9736 @ 102.16 Really seems like the first run I did everything right and scored a crap time. Any thoughts or ideas for something solid that I could approach the service manager with? We have already discussed it on the phone and he is trying to work with me on it. He suggested pulling the CAI off and running it again. I told him when I ran it stock my best time was a 13.99 but I was more concerned with my trap of 101 then anything else. |

on a positive note, your car seems to be picking up pretty well on the second half of the track judging by the 1/8mph and 1/4mph. most automatic powered cars trapping 81mph in the 8th run maybe 101mph or so. most manual cars trap close to 102.5mph with the same 81mph 1/8th. |

That time is what that car will run with a cai. He really doesn't have any mods. What were the weather conditions?

at least 7mph off?? according to the fast list, the average trap speed of the fastest L99's with boltons is 111.3mph and all of them have a tune and more mods than him. with his mods he should probably be closer to 108mph which is UP TO 4mph off but we need to know more info on his track day PLUS not every car is gonna be right there with the fastest ones in the country.

From reading the op's post - I wonder if the car has been tuned or not?
My guess would be the 1-2 and/or 2-3 shift points could use some adjusting. I have an excel spreadsheet that will do a compare of two different runs side by side. I took the op's time and compared his run to two others (Grad Pa #30 and Kathy63 #17) on the fast list. Looks like the op is loosing between 51% and 63% of his time in the first 330ft with the largest percentage loss being between 60ft & 300ft. He does gradually catches up percentage wise through the rest of the run.

Are you leave at idle, or stalling it up a bit? Are you spinning?

What was your corrected trap speed? What was the DA?
1000' of DA equates to about .15 sec. But this time of year, the DA's shouldn't be too high, unless you live at high elevation. |

Sorry so late in getting back.. No tune. I left about 1500 with very little to no spin and track prep was great. I don't have the DA handy but it was at San Antonio raceway. This was also on 93 octane.
Can't compare apples to apples since nothing was really close that night. Some 5.0s running 13.2ish but had bad launches and 2 RT challangers running 14's. I usually go with the F-Body crowd so none of them are even close to stock but they were all running a little faster. I don't know if it's the auto, some of the underlying problems I have had since purchase or what but the car has always seemed slow. The dealer always says can't recreate, escalating, etc. I was pretty sick of it so I got a great deal on a 5.0 Yeah I know but the mustangs seem to be very consistent and I went from a 1SS to a fully loaded premium with lower payments and half the interest rate. Got a good trade on my Camaro as well so I didn't loose a whole lot of money on the deal other than my down payment. |

Wasn't a quick decision. I wasn't happy with the car and got a very good deal losing very little money. Probably almost a break even after the extended warranty and gap checks. Had the Camaro for a year with poor dealer support and multiple problems. Seems like a no brainer to me.

Looks right with no tune. My Dad's L99 ran 13.22 with a CAI, GM Pro Mufflers, BMR Trailing arms, NT555R's and Jannetty Tune. Check your mass Air Flow sensor...
