Camshaft in a week, your guess at dyno numbers
OK everybody, time for a little game of guess the numbers! Here is what we have to work with.
Mods to the car last dyno. LS3 with Solo cats, 2 1/2" x pipe and flowmasters. Result in not so great air 386/386 on same dyno car is about to go back on. (i will have new dyno before cam for as close to apples to apples as possible) Only change since is the addition of a CAI cold air kit. A reasonable gues for current numbers in a little better air with cold air box would be around 400-405 I would guess. Car has run 12.54 @112 at about 1200 DA. Now for the tricky part. I came across a good deal on a new G6X3. Cam and tune are the only things being added (other than supporting springs, pushrods, upper gear, etc). The car will NOT have headers installed at this time. So all mods will be G6X3, Solo cats, xpipe, flowmasters, cutom tune. So how much will it make without headers? How much will manifolds kill it...or will they? I know some will think I am stupid, crazy, or both. Maybe so, but I'm gonna find out.

I say 440! My vote is in! Get those headers and open it up and you probably hit 460 or so!

i remember the thread you made with the 3 choices. i voted for headers. but getting a cam is still good, and i understand why you would want one. a lot of shops will highly recommend getting headers with a cam. i gained about 20WHP from high flow cats to headers. and i had a dyno tune with the cats. cams work really well with headers so it might be even more then 20 idk. i would see what most people are making with that cam, headers, CAI, and tune. and minus 20WHP

i seriously doubt you will hit 410rwhp with out headers. the motor will be choking up trying to get rid of the spent gasses.

If I'm at 410, than I guess I'll be making about 60 less than cars with similar mods with the headers instead of 20 or so.

well, i installed a cam and made them dyno it without headers first and it only made about 10rwhp than i had before the cam. the dyno sheet looked crazy. let me see if i can find it and i will post a pick.

btw, once the headers were on and it was tuned again it made almost 40rwhp more. without the headers it didnt gain much power at all.
