Unbelievable!! What else can happen! Truckers (Allied) STRIKE!!

So close but yet so far away! Just went to the dealer to see if the vert would be in today and they said you want believe this but Allied went on strike last week!! This was the first I had heard of this. They called the rail yard and the car is there but no way to get to the dealer. The dealer stated the bullentin stated that GM was trying to solve the issue as soon as possible. Has anyone else been told of this?? Just seems so unfair!! They said no way could they send a truck etc..We would just have to wait it out!! Does anyone have a GM Customer Compliant phone #? The one the dealer gave me doesn't even work!!!

We got an update from GM that says they have replaced Allied with other vendors, it should get moving soon.

Moving soon could be a week, etc. This vehicle should have arrived last week. Like my dealer stated, no trucking company will cross those picket lines.. and who can blame them!!

You will start seeing alot more of these type of things with trucking compaines unfortunately. With Diesel as high as it is the cost has to be passed on somehwere, truckers, trucking companies etc can not keep eating the cost.

Unfortunately your dealer and GM are not to blame for this. A call to the complaint department is just going to frustrate you more when they tell you thhat there is nothing they can do.

When you sublet out to private companies for transportation or other services, you are at their mercy. Just have patience and be glad when it arrives.

I know they had nothing to do with the strike! But I guess I would have liked for them to seem a little more caring. Their comment was " I guess when we run out of cars to sell, they will do something about it!" It is all a matter of timing, when you had plans for the car, special trips, it is a little disappointing when plans fall apart!! Five years from now it will not matter, but as of today it is foremost on my mind!!!

And we all know your pain as we all felt the same way when we were waiting on our Camaro's to arrive. The train couldn't go fast enough, they couldn't unload it fast enough, they couldn't load the truck sat enough, the truck didn't drive to the dealer fast enough etc.... but in time it did arrive and Perma Grin arrived with it. It was well worth the wait.

One thing about it, my car is not the only one trying to get home! Who knows, she may meet another one down at the rail yard and she comes home with a litter of little cameros!! Wouldn't that be great!! Now that may be a permagrin that never fades away!!!

Maybe not so much, I think the dealer would charge you for each one... Not to mention the fun of plating and registration!

This happened to me in 1999 when I ordered my ZR2 S-10. It sat less than 30 miles from me for almost 3 weeks because the truckers went on strike.

Does anyone have any information on this? I tried googling it and the only thing I found was something from 3/17/11. Do we know for sure that our cars are being delayed by this?

I haven't had a status update since 3/14/11 - Latest: (4300) Interm transfer. Processing transfer to QC or vendor.

My dealer won't tell me anything except "hopefully it will be here by the end of the month".

Take this with a grain of salt, as it is just one report, but I heard that GM cancelled the contract with Allied. Perhaps that is why Allied is picketting and nobody will cross the line? Don't know how true this is, but usually, these types of things resolve theirselves in a couple of days....

Best info I can give:

GM is working to utilize other carriers, and
vehicle shipments are being delivered.

Although because of the increased work load,
some delays may be experienced.

I'll keep everyone updated...

Thanks Becky. We really appreciate you staying on top of things and keeping us all up to date. I am still waiting for to start. My car is sitting in the rail yard in VA.
