I dont want to thread jack but I have a couple questions about this car. A guy that lives a couple houses down has almost the same car. It has the same spoiler and hood but a way different exhaust. The tips are skinny and wide. And its very loud. His wife bought it for him and he got it with 2 miles on it. He says its completely stock but doesnt know a thing about it. Is his some special edition with the tips or something?? His is almost in the same condition with 1286 miles on it but his dog chewed the drivers side mirror off.

He probably has the center mount exhaust. Some of these cars were sent to SLP before they went to dealers to get special options. The exhaust you are describing was an option that was offered from SLP. So he probably has the same car just with the SLP exhaust and Air Lid. Did the exhaust look like this?

73camarolt is right on it. The car I posted has the same exhaust system. All of the items you question was added by SLP and added about 20 HP to the existed 325.

Yes. That's the exhaust he has. How rare is the car?? His is some dark redish orange color with black leather.

You mean Sunset Orange Metallic? Is it a 6spd? It is definitly a very rare car. With that low of miles, yea very rare. Sunset orange is a rare color. My dad has a Sunset orange SS convertible 6spd. 1 of 54 or something like that and has been kicking himself for selling that car. If your neighbor ever wants to sell it, i would be interested lol. But yea his car is a pretty rare 4th gen. BTW this is Sunset Orange Metallic,

Actually every SS went to SLP; they had a facility in St. Therese that changed the hoods and spoilers plus added their specific content. I had on 01 NBM SS that had the CME exhaust option. It definitely was louder than the stock system but not much different than the dual dual option also offered by SLP. Now on my 99 SS I added the GMMG chambered system with Kooks 1-3/4 headers. That car was loud and it would set off alarm systems.....

I thought only the 96 and 97 SS went to SLP for the conversion. and then from 98-02 you could order a SS with nothing from SLP. My dads 2002 SS had no options from SLP at all. No air box, no exhaust, nothing.

Edit: Just checked, you are right. They always went there but not always had the second sticker saying its SLP options.

Correct. SLP still did the hood and rear spoiler. That's why every SS has an SLP door tag; it went through their facility and needs the associated VIN tag.

Its a auto and is all original besides a rust protector system and the drivers side mirror is chewed up. I doubt he would sell it. He always used to say who ever married his daughter could have the car. Well my cuz is marrying her in a couple weeks and he is backing out of the deal.
