? for c5 LADIES only

I want to move to Myrle Beach, I am retired, receive decent pension at age 54. My wife still works because she has to in order to pay mortgage and taxes here in Jersey $8,200 in taxes. If we move to MB she does not have to work.Taxes on 200k home is @$700 .Mort $850. She does not want to go because of grand daughters 2 -2yr olds and 1 on way.I told her it is not like we r moving to Boise or something it is a resort town. It is 1 hr 20 min from ac to mb $200 round trip. To her defense I do get bored quick, don't know if I will love it there but golf, fish, beach, casino boat, what is not to love???? Dear Abby's any womans point of view would be greatly appreciated

I say move, it sounds like it would be beneficial for you both financially and Myrtle beach is an awesome town. If she was watching the kids daily so the parents didn't have to pay for child care or something and were depending on her then I might think otherwise but like you said it isn't that far away to visit. I say move and enjoy your retirement!

Man's perspective here albeit not requested. I love golfing, fishing, and the beach, even casino's, but the real priority is always family first. Especially over "FUN" things. These fun things I'm pretty sure appear selfish of you to her because you're trying to justify "fun" things over seeing her grand kids. Your choice of verbiage makes it seem like they aren't your grandkids or you may have chosen the words, "our grandkids". Just because you're ready to move on from retirement doesn't mean she wants to and lose the closeness of being around her grand children even if it means she has to work to do it. Her family is what is motivating her to continue to work so I'm sorry to say, you're probably going to lose this one. I know, you didn't want a man's perspective anyway.

Tough choice. Several ways to look at it. Family does come first.........always. But living life now is also important. Recent deaths in my family have greatly influenced by position on things like this. If you move & she feels you "dragged" her away from her grandkids she may never forgive you for it in her heart even if she never says so. It is not that far, so one advantage of the move might be that it may afford the adult kids & their children (grandkids) the option of weekend mini vacations to visit. This in fact could result in more quality time with them. That means you would need to be comfortable with them visiting & staying with you guys often and getting a place with enough room for them to be able to stay there. The flip side is that since it is so close no reason you could not do more weekend trips there yourselves & stay where you are. I do feel it is very important to live in the moment. You never know what tomorrow may hold & regret over what you could have/should have done are tough to deal with. Bottom line, you guys need to have a real heart to heart talk about your priorities & what is truly best for both of you. Whatever you decide, make it a point to have as much fun now as you can. That is what my husband & I plan to do.

I say move, Randy and I live 3 hrs from my parents and when we see them its weekend trips and good quality time..... 1 hr and 20 min. actually would be perfect, that would be much easier for us to drive in just for the day when things get too busy to stay the weekend.... even though its not around the corner to go visit mom and dad, its perfect IMO because we all take each other for granted when we see each other too much!

From a financial perspective, you should move. But finances aren't the whole story. Does SHE like to golf, fish, go to the beach and casino?
