LPW Diff Cover

has anyone used the lpw rear diff cover, gm high tech used it on a new gear swap, i would think that it would make a good addition to the jre posi mod with the new main caps. Any thoughts would be great

The main cap studs on the cover will certainly benefit longevity of the diff. Compare to a stock cover, and you can see how this would really help prevent housing flex. For the price, you really can't go wrong

I've used LPW covers exclusively on my other cars, they're far better than the TA ones...and most other companies are re-badged TA's as well. I've always had good experiences with them.

I ordered mine this morning. It will be here tomorrow and I'll post up some pics after the install on Thursday. I talked to Doug at LPW and gave him the measurements of the Jannetty billet bearing caps and he said there should be clearance for them. The billet caps have a nice flat surface for the load bolts to tighten against, instead of the factory rounded caps. The load bolt puts pressure on the Carrier Bearing caps to help keep any flex to a minimum. The end of the load bolt can best be described as the end of the threaded rod on a C clamp that has a swiveling pad on the end of it.
Here's a pic of the Jannetty caps. The circle on each is where the load bolt contacts the cap:

Good to see what the jre main caps look like and good to hear that the lpw case will work with them. I may have read this some place els but what caused the gears to fail.

The nearest thing that I can say for the Richmond 3.73's failure is this....
Richmond gears SUCK.... Just my opinion. That's why I will NEVER buy Richmond gears ever again. I'm going with the new LPE AAM 3.91's. They will be here tomorrow!!

Ted was talking to me about these covers yesterday, we'll have to call Mark @ LPW and chat about these

Thanks for the suggestion!

Rebuilt my diff yesterday with the LPE AAM 3.91's and installed the LPW cover. It is a lot beefier than the stock cover and the load bolts work very nice with the JRE billet caps. The load bolt pads are exactly the same width as the billet caps. I thinks this cover is going to help alot in strengthening the diff. Here are some pics:

I did have to grind down about 2" of the right side of the rib approximately5/16'" deep to clear the frame of the car just above the rear mounting bolt bracket. It fit in alright without grinding it down, but I noticed it was touching the frame, and knew it would make alot of noise transmit through the car. So I pulled it back out and ground some off until I had aprox. 1/8" gap. This pic shows where to grind:

This pic shows where I ground the rib. You can see where it would have been touching the frame of the car.

LPW cover works with the JRE billet caps. Had the posi-mod done with caps yesterday. The JRE billet cap as mentioned provides a nice seat for the covers torque bolts for the bearing caps. Very happy with the outcome.
