CAI oiled/dry filter

I have my choices for an intake and it's between CAI and Roto. I'm partial to the C.A.I Inc intake but from what I've read on their site it only comes with an oiled filter. I personally like dry filters. Has anyone outfitted it with a different type of filter? If so where did you get it?

Thanks

FWIW. I've had the C.A.I unit with oiled filter on my car for almost 2 years now. AND with a supercharger in the mix. NO problems...

nothing wrong with an oiled filter. Just don't over oil it when it comes time.

Oiled filters are the way to go, you just can't over do it. Any issues had with oiled filters are due to user error.

To be quite honest I've only ever had dry filters on vehicles. I like the ease of just getting a new one and putting it on without messing around. Decisions decisions.. thanks for the replies.

What they said about the oiled filter, just don't put too much after you clean it. CAI is my choice.

What everyone else has said is correct. Also remember that you don't have to oil it and re-use it just because you can. Many of our customers just buy a new oiled filter from us after 15k miles or so and plug it in without bothering to re-charge their other one. Trust me, you will be glad you have chosen CAI Inc. Let me know if you have any questions, I would be happy to help you out.

This is nuts! This really happens? If someone can't handle this procedure then they really shouldn't be attempting ANY type of maintenance at all!

If you had the demensions of the CAI filter (opening, length, diameter) you could look at the AFE Pro dry filter to use in its place.

My dealer told me that he has seen oil type filters cause error code for the mass air flow sensor. Don't know much about the stuff but I know that error codes do not sound good lol.

I have been using oil type filters for about 40 years with no problems. If you put too much oil on the filter you could cause MAF problems but you really have to over do it.

I also like the CAI, Inc.

The only warranty it would void is the airbox system, any damage caused by any aftermarket part would not be covered but your vehicle warranty will in no way be effected. They just will not cover damage caused by aftermarket parts, but the rest of the warranyy remains intact. That is the law.
