Helloo,
so I blew a tire last week on the freeway, original since the car was first purchased, and was wondering, (after speaking with a few people), are the tires covered under warranty? what are the specifications on what would be covered vs. not? If I could get any money back for the expense of having to replace the tire I would really like to pursue it! thanks for any info/assistance. - Colleen.

Any normal wear and tear items are almost never covered such as tires, brakes etc

There is a warranty on the tires up to about 12k miles but not from Chevy, its from the MFG of the tire.

Did your insurance cover it? Mine did and because it was under a certain mileage they had to put what came stock on the car (pzeros). I just paid my deductible

I just had to replace one tire (21" pzero) and the tire was $493 alone!!!! I was blown away, I knew pzeros were nice tires, but had no idea. Anyway just had to say that since it was on topic.

and yeah, expensive tires! but 493$ for one is obscene! I thought mine were bad at $250/each. but had to replace both rears, since the other one had less than 40% tread left, and could possibly have been an issue for wear. ![]()

Tires are not covered by the GM warranty. The tire manufacturer provides a warranty that covers defects (but not road hazards).
Take the tire to a reputable tire shop and ask them what caused the blowout. If they think its a defect, you may be able to get a new tire...

Like all the above said, tires are warrantied against defects. I run into this alot b/c i've sold wheels and tires for the past 7 years. People always ask how long the mileage warranty is and they get confused b/c they think "the tread has to last that long or they get a free tire" or "I took out a curb, this must be warrantied". The only thing a manufacturer will cover is if you drive down the road and the tire blows for absolutely no reason at all or the belts brake inside the tire causing a bubble/mass, then they wil replace it but most likely they will pro rate it. If you hit a curb, railroad track, road level change from construction, etc...all bets are off. Low tire pressure is the most common issue I see. My advice, no matter what tires you buy, spend a few extra bucks and get a road hazard warranty. In 7 years i've seen maybe 2 or 3 truly defective tires. All the rest were either road hazard or people hazard. I would still ask a shop what they think caused the issue.

Just as a follow up, I went to the Chevy Dealer and showed them the bubble on the side of my tire. They are ordering me a new one and said they will swap it at no charge.
