Need some career help guys!

I also posted this on Adams, but thought posting here would be a good idea since I need a bit of help. Thanks in advance!

Ok since I've been a kid I've always wanted to be a pilot, mainly for some big airline, but from what I hear most people fly for the military first, then they become a commercial pilot. So I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the air force and becoming an officer/ pilot. I was thinking about going to the Air Force academy, become a pilot in the military, spend 5-10 yrs in the Air Force, then try to become an airline pilot and somewhere along the way pick up a GTR. So what do you guys think is the Air Force the way to go?

Well, first question is, how old are you? Then, do you have a degree? Only way to go into the military as an officer is to have a degree. If not, then you will be just enlisted, have to get your degree, then when you finish your term, sign up as an officer

Also, look into the air national guard. One thing you need to make sure is that they have a pilot slot guarantee. Marines might be another option.

Oh, and there's an airline pilot forum that discusses this exact topic.

In the Air Force the pilots are officers which means they have a commission granted only AFTER they have graduated college.
