Vacuum is your best friend- prevention is the best medicine.

This stuff works pretty well too- although I haven't tried many others to compare.

I sometimes use a pretty damp micro fiber towel just to give them a once over...usually at night and then morning comes and they are dry. I don't soak them though. Usually that's after a good vacuum.

kinda unclear.. so your saying 2 buckets .. 1 cold 1 hot .. have a platstic brush and some towels .. but cleaning powder into the hot one .. put the brush in it and clean the seats .. then wipe it down with the damp cold one?

I would throw a fabric guard on them. Do a good cleaning with a suitable fabric cleaner first (I suggest W2 from gtechniqe) then spray on a fabric guard (I would go with I1 from Gtechniqe) You can also put this stuff on your carpets and headliner which will make it easier to remove dirt/dust from them.

Vacuum and lint roller.

If need be a damp sponge and soap for mild stains

"apply...roughly" and "scrub..hard" are not terms I would employ in any area of detailing I can think of.

A good cleaner should be able to be applied, lightly agitated with fingers or soft interior brush, and blotted clean. The process may vary by product, but that's the general idea.
