Question How to shut off the AFM ???

Hey Guys !

Im just new here , so sorry if i write this on a wrong place or something like that , just let me know !

Ok , now to my problem : I am from Germany ( so sorry again for my bad english ) , and we have a House in Fort Myers FL !
Since one month ago ive bought a brand new 2011 CAmaro ss automatic with the Active Fuel Management !
The first meters i were driving my new car i thought something is wrong with the transmission , i sounds like it will expolde in the next seconds !
So i was driving it back to my dealer and wanted him to repair this problem , but days after i ve brought it there the dealer contacted me and told me it is the AFM !
But they are not allowed to turn it off in there garage !
This really bad noise drives me crazy and i want to shut this silly AFM off !

So , does anyone of you have an idea where and how i can do this ?
Maybe someone knows a adress from Florida ???

Thank you verry verry much for the first time and i would be the happy īst īman on earth if you have any idea for me !

Any tuner can turn it off for you. Some hand tuners allow you to turn it off also.

You would need to get a tuner to turn it off.

Just be aware that tuning your car for any reason can void the warrantee.

It might be too late, but get a manual instead, and that way you don't need to bother with that. Plus, you'll have the manual...which rocks!

To enter manual mode where AFM is deactivated shift into M, then tap either shift button on the wheel. You'll have to shift with the tap shifters but no AFM. To exit manual mode, hold the right tap shift for three seconds to go back into sport (auto) mode and reactivate AFM.

As soon as my warranty is up, I will have it tuned such that AFM is disabled in sport mode but remain active in Drive just in case I want the extra 1-2 MPG.

The AFM is not deactivated when you use the paddles. It is deactivated temporarily when you are over a certain RPM level, regardless of whether or not you are in M or D. I've also not seen or heard anywhere that any tuner can completely disable AFM when in Sport, but remain when in D.

go to tampa tuning. he's a sponsor on this site...oh, and he's in tampa.

if you get a tune...it'll void your warranty on the engine and tranny if they blow up. the rest of the car will still be covered.

how many people have you known that had an engine scramble on them?

the tune is worth it ...in my opinion.

As already mentioned... Tune = AFM off = void engine/transmission warranty

Do you have aftermarket exhaust? axle-back or cat-back? Stock exhaust covers the 'noise' for the most part, I couldn't tell when I rode with my stock exhaust.

For me... 2yrs down... & 3 to go, then I'll get a tune (let my Monster loose)

You are correct, except for a tuner can activate or deactivate AFM in (D) 1 through 6 and also in (M) 1 through 6 selectively gear by gear. I had mine left on in (D) 5th, 6th gear only.

The best way to handle it is buy a handheld SCT tuner from Jannetty Racing and simply turn it off and then back on yourself if you have to go to the dealer. Still can void warranty, but chances are no one is going to care.

Really? It was my understanding that AFM is disabled in manual-tap mode.
