If I get selected to SSgt, then I will buy a ZL-1(SSgt results released in Sept)...

I'm in zone for SSgt and I won't find out until September if i'm selected or not for promotion per the Staff Sergeant Selection board results. Of course if I get selected, that makes me 1 step closer to getting the ZL-1.

Would you choose a Doberman Pinscher over a ZL-1? I can't get both!

A ZL1 looks like a cross between a Dobie & a Rocketship. Fierce and fast all rolled into one glorious package of Bad@$$.

So I'd go with the fine ride. Besides, a Dobie would be lonesome if you got deployed. A ZL1 will patiently wait for his Master's return.

Good luck! I just picked up e6 off the march test. Navy tho, so I get to wear it now and get payed in Jan... I'll take it over not making it. I'm seriously trying to sell the zl1 to the wife. Told her I'd sell my 74 vette for a down payment.

My son just picked up SSgt. Monday. He is in Okinawa and will probably reup for four more years next year. He made E-6 in less than seven years and I am quite proud. My oldest brother went into the Navy in the 50s when the top rank was E-7 (only one version of "Chief" then) and he made E-6 in less than four years. He had no h. s. diploma and I consider his achievement higher than another brother getting picked for a two-star slot. This old former Marine looks forward to getting a ZL1 but will have to do with a base model 2010 Corvette meanwhile. I just noticed to the left it says I drive a Malibu. Years ago, maybe.... I guess I need to update something.

Reading about E-6's buying $60k cars reminds me of when I was stationed at Charleston AFB, SC as an E-3 trying to figure out how I could afford the Starsky and Hutch Grand Torino an E-5 was selling. Didn't take me long to figure out I couldn't afford a $250 a month car payment in 1977 on an E-3's pay with a family. Hell, 15 years later, even with two E-7 incomes, we couldn't afford a $30k car. To say nothing of a $60k car. Times have surely changed.

I'm dual income no kids. I'm without a car payment at the moment and I get a chunk of change every year for staying in. Not to mention 120 a day while I'm deployed to neat places.

Pay has certainly changed. My parents are both retired air force and I remember growing up with 3 siblings and money being tight.

So I found an insurance broker for a wife.

All these classifications are above my head, but I know I can say that I wish you good luck and thank you for your service. Please stay safe and I hope you get your ZL1. Please share your car and stories with us

Marine or Army SSgt E-6?

Good luck to ya.

I met this SSgt E-5(Air Force) that owns a GTR a $90K car. Being a loadmaster, good with money with no family helps I guess. I'm a TSgt E-6 and my situation I can't think of a $30k car.

His location is "NOVA" which I am guessing is Quantico, Va. (NOrthern VirginiA). No doubt in my mind this soon-to-be E-6 is a Marine. So how do I change my "Drives..." ???

Thank you all for your service!! I did 10.5 years active duty Air Force. I was a single E-5 good with money so a mortgage and a garage full of toys was normal for me. 4 deplyments (2 in Iraq) also didnt hurt. I am now a civilian overseas supporting the troops in MRAP vehicles. Google it if you don't know what an MRAP is or what it does. I am up in the air on a ZL1 or possibly a CTS-V sedan in auto. I guess time will tell...
