Sub HELP!
So I'm tired of searching through pages of threads...
Anyone have a DIY on sub wire up without the ******** harness? I have a sub, amp and whatnot and want to put it in. I am sure it's simple but I'm not the best with stereos. Any advice would help. Bacially what do I connet where? I want to do it all from the trunk. Nothing running up front. Thanks! |

You need a line out put converter... 1.Tap in to your rear speaker wires in the trunk, run it to the converter
2. RCA out of the converter to the amp 3. speaker wire out of the amp to the sub 4. Power wire from positive battery to amp, with in line fuse 5. Wire from amp ground to ground on car. 6. Remote turn on lead, you need to figure out what wire this is, I don't have a camaro or I would know... Look up camaro stereo wiring on crutchfield... Find what wire is the amp turn on lead, you should be able to tap in to it right at the factory amp. Then run that line to your amp. I think that covers everything. You should be able to do all this without touching the front of the car. |

Oo I was under the impression that you wanted to hook up your own amp too... I'm sure the Boston system doesnt put out much power to the sub channel. You will prob be a little dissapointed if all you are doing is putting in a new speaker.

I do want a second amp but there is an easy way... I just don't know how. It has been done and some (********) actually made a harness but they are sold out.

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=114522 Good idea with that, you can skip the output converter that way, you still need to run the power from the battery to the amp tho... Trying to tap in to the amps power wire will be trouble. So just pick a speaker and run from the factory wiring to the new amp, you need to solder on RCA tips to the wires, and run the turn on lead(white wire according to that link) to the remote turn on spot on new amp |

It was simple. Splice a few wires. I also unhooked the center front speaker. Sound pretty good but it takes a lot of adjusting. I'd say it's better tho.
Thanks for the help! |
