Exclamation August 20, 2011 ABQ SMS Cars, Coffee, Chile, and Speed (Track Day)!

Albuquerque SMS Cars, Coffee, Chile, and Speed (Track Day) on the 20th of August 2011.

Mr. Jim Guthrie will be there (hopefully) with his Corvette! I'll do my best to get him there.

Also, we're hoping Andre will be there as well.

The entry fee is $50 per track day, unless you become a Driver's Club member. More information on this will be posted at http://www.sandiamotorsports.com/ or http://www.sandia-speedway.com/

The time will be between 08:00 AM to 12:00 PM (alot of the time, it's even longer).

We'll meet up at Hotel Albuquerque in Old Town at 7:30 AM and caravan out to the track.

By the way, if the parking lot is full at Hotel Albuquerque, we'll meet just across the street (on Bellamah Ave).

If no one is there, just head out to the track. Most people show up late as they wish to sleep in (whimps).

Details on the Track Day are at http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=106280

I hope to see you all there!
NOTICE: There is a $10 fee for anyone coming out to observe and hang out! It is $50 for drivers.

Blakes Lotaburger now runs the concessions, so drinks are no longer free (bummer), buritos are about $5.

Helmets are required!

I would love to come out and I know times are tough for everyone but to charge to watch my friends practice is not for me, whats next being charged to go to the bathroom!
Sorry I had to vent a little, all the greed is starting to get to me.

WOW!!!!! Anybody spectating today would've definitely got their money's worth. What a day!! It was a light turnout, which means the track was all to ourselves mostly. It was myself, Curt, and Andre. Hopefully Curt will post pics, later. Then Jim showed up with his truck, so I offered my car for demos. WOW!! He gave us some instructions, took us on the skid pad, and believe it or not drifted with my car on sticky Nitto 050R's. All of us on the skid pad got dizzy, then he had me drive, and I got dizzy, but what a learning experience. Everytime he teaches me I get overwhelmed with tons of info, that I sort out later. He is an Amazing teacher!!!!

I truly wish more people could experience this kind of fun!!!

Oh, AND, he dialed in my new gears for the 1/4 for me.

MADNESS!!!!! Im still dizzy lol, no joke. I can hardly wait for the next one, hopefully my car is all done and I can get out there and tear it up. Diana diving into the turns and her hard acceleration on the two straits I was pretty much done (dizzy with an upset stomach) melting underneath my helmet. Then here comes wild man Jim Guthrie, I would have thrown up if my stomach would not have been empty (I feel like I have a concussion).

Talking Historical

This was a historical event for the local Camaro5 chapter. Andre made it to the track for Cars and Coffee!

It was an awesome day as we had the track to ourselves with Jim Guthrie on hand for training and demonstration.

Here's proof Andre was there...

Cool Andre on the Track

Here are a few pictures of Jim Guthrie at the wheel of Diana's car with Andre in the passenger seat. Andre's son also made it out on the track a few times too.

Thumbs up Diana Drifting??!!

Diana took a shot at some drifting under Jim's instruction.

For a beginner, she did a great job!!

Of course, when Jim took over, watch out!!

Sorry for being a bit late on these pictures, I had to go to a baseball game.
