CAI or Exhaust Toss-up

They are priced about the same. I can't decide what I want to do first. One guy said CAI first. I am fighting with myself here. Part of me also says wait and save money but ITS SO TEMPTING!!!!!!

I say exhaust first (stock is too tame), but if you can afford it do both at same time.

I did the CAI first and about 6 months later the exhaust. I wanted the few extra horses from Cai and then wanted a better exhaust sound.

I think I am going to do the exhaust first and get the Flowmaster Outlaws Axel-back kit.

If money is the limiting factor, I would do pipes first. I went CAI first then a week later pipes. I used the CAI Inc cai and didn't really notice major improvement. While even a cat-back system alone won't generate a HP increase, at least it sounds a whole lot better. I prefer a good sound over the CAI since any HP gains are minimal.

Currently I just have the CAI and Borla cat-back S-type pipes. I'm doing a dyno run in a few weeks to get a baseline of where the car is at before doing anymore mods. I don't expect much if anything from just these two mods.

Of course, if you got the cash do both. I staggered the mods so I could try and feel any noticeable difference. Can't say I did other than the sound is pretty awesome now.

I did the CAI brand intake with the ADM scoop and I there is a very nice difference in sound with that alone--and nice deep tone to boot! Jannetty's test showed the CAI and and adm scoop to produce 18+ rwhp alone. From what I've read here, you most likely won't see those gains from a catback system let alone an axle back.

I will be doing exhaust next and my first thought was to just do the high flow cats from SOLO (A6 owner) for the sound, no CEL's, and HP increase but I think I'm going to bite the bullet and do headers to the axle back with a tune.

Personally, I like the deep engine growls from the headers and high flow cats much more than the cat back or axle back systems. From what I've gathered here, the stock mufflers on the A6, with resonators, will help fight drone and keep it from being obnoxiously loud. On the downside, the stock mufflers are around 25 pounds heavier, as a set, than an aftermarket muffler system.

Save some money and get a package deal. We can discount both enough were its really worth waiting it out a couple weeks and buying them together!

Took the words right out of my mouth. Customers are always looking for deals and package purchases are how you get the best ones.

Depends on what you want to do. If you are looking for sound and a little bit of performance get the mufflers. Remember you will have to tune for the cold air induction.

What exhaust? My CAI was only around 350, my Borla exhaust was much more. I would get the CAI first, then the exhaust. That's what I did.

Have fun, you'll love the sound!

Madness11 - Thanks for considering Flowmaster products for your pride and joy. The new Outlaw exhaust for the Camaro has been getting a lot of attention, especially since we posted the new video.

The dyno results from our stock SS were impressive too!
