3.73 or 3.90 gears for the M6?

I am looking at doing a gear change and looking for suggestions and data from people with the above 2 gear selections. My car info is in my signature. I am trapping 122-123mph right now around 5200-5500 rpm, I would like to get my fourth gear RPMs at the traps up but still have some room to grow later when I up the boost and not have to get into 5th gear.

I can only recommend LPE 3.91s or Richmond 4.11s due to reliability issues.

I have one of Each all built with Posi mod and billet caps ready to drop in.

Keep your stock gear! You wouldnt put a gear in a diesel would ya? We have held the 6 speed GTO record since 2006 all with a 3.31 gear, maggies like to pull if your close to 5500 your right in the range you need to be.Use that rear gear money and add a little more hp and youll be perfect with alot of room to grow .

No I wouldn't gear down a diesel but then again it only turns 4500 at best with peak power about 3000-3200rpm.
I see what your saying but I would like to see my car at this point around 5800-5900 at the trap and that gives me 1000 rpm to grow which would be about 10mph and that would put me mid 10s with a M6 and I don't see me doing that until I do a full build and at that put would prolly go to a slush box anyway. All of my slowness of my car is 1st gear since it take alittle ways to get through it, as soon as I am in second the car moves out.

Your going 123 MPH which is Stellar, but your ET is Really High for that MPH so that means all of your effort has to be focused on the 60 FT.

Maggie cars have explosive bottom end power and you have to put Slicks on the car to make use of that power.

Gearing down will make the car easier to launch and drive it out of the hole because you won't have to use as much clutch.

Ted.

That is why I am looking to do this. I would love to be able to ease up on my clutch and not to metion able to pull off from a stop w/o having to give alot of pedal.

Ted do you have a stock of LPE 3:91's? I have your posi kit and billet caps and I'm getting ready to pull trigger on the gear set.

I think ted is spot on. Get some slicks or atleast some MT dr's those 555r's and 600rwhp 6 speed dont mix very well.

My car doesn't spin bad until I leave at 4200+. It actually bogs at anything under 3700.

How much gain will you get going from stock 3.45 gears to the 3.91 gears? In the quarter mile?
