LEDs in reverse (back-up) lights? - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

has anyone replaced their reverse lights with LEDs? If so how hard was it and what type of bulb is in there? I just replaced some of the other lighting with LEDs (side markers, license plate lights) and the reverse lights look yellow and need to go as well :-)

that's what I have. Install takes all of 15 minutes. Couldnt be happier. They are super bright

$200 for reverse lights? Are they high? Thats like $10 in bulbs and probably not even that much in the cost of the housing..

thanks guys, I do agree with stieger though the price seems high. Do you access the lights from inside the trunk or is it more involved? I thought I'd see what the incandesent bulb number is and see if there's an LED replacement out there.

The install involves removing the rear bumper. It's very easy. Whole install take less than 30 minutes.

I have an extra set of revers lights; I'm going to try and retrofit LEDs in the housing in the next week or so.

Well I'm not saying anyone sells the product that cheap, but the parts involved are not expensive and certainly should not be even $100 for the pair much less $200.

I can understand where you're coming from. But, you don't know what parts are in the reverse lights. Just that each light has 3 high power LEDs.

You obviously have no idea what it costs to manufacture something like this. These are replacement housings, and manufacturers require minimum order quantities to cover their cost of tooling. That means that companies like AAC go out on a limb and assume they can sell the thousands of units necessary to make a profit. I have a set of these, and they work great.

Its because they pass the R&D cost on to us.

I have the LED Back Up Lights on my 2010 and they took about 30 minutes to install. They light the whole street up at night. Great mod and worth every penny. They also come with a lifetime warranty. I had to send them in after getting them the first time and ACC sent me out new ones. Covered under the warranty.
