My dealer allocations
I had a long conversation with my dealer's general manager today. He explained to me how they were able to get my order status to 3000 as of Friday when I just placed my order on March 21st.
Turns out that my GM dealership originally had two locations in Memphis. This past year a Chevy dealership in Collierville (surburb of Memphis) went belly up and my dealership took it over. The inventory on the lot at the belly up location was way low. Several dealers around the country were dying to get rid of some of their unsold inventory due to low sales volume. My dealership made deals to buy this unsold inventory from other dealerships in exchange for one or two of their Camaro allocations. From what I understand, if they had not done this, my dealer would have had no allocations. Instead they have 8 allocations, 7 of which are already spoken for. It was all just a matter of good timing on my part, albeit unintentional. He also confirmed that overall sales volume of a dealership has at least something to do with allocations that they receive. And he said that volume sales of Mustangs and other cars in the area had little or nothing to do with it. Just thought it was an interesting story. Good luck to everyone.

Good luck man. I ordered March 21st and went to 3400 this week. If everything keeps moving like it has been, and comparing other people's progress to mine, I expect to take delivery just before June 1. Of course I may just be dreaming but several other orders are moving at the same pace and actually taking delivery.
Also seems like the higher vins are moving faster. I am one week behind the number 3 guy at my dealership and his is built and ready to ship if not already shipped. We will see.
