Sound Distortion from BA Spreaker?

Hey all

Recently I noticed on some songs the front middle speak with the BA sound system kinda crackles or distorts. Its usually when someone hits a note and draws it out. To put it in perspective that speaker does not like Akon's voice, Andrew Scotdale's voice (lead singer of wolfmother) most Zeppelin songs or some drawn out mid notes of an electric guitar. I tried teasing the sound out by turning either Treble Mid or bass all the way to -12 and the sound stays. I don't regularly have the volume up past 25 and it actually stays around 18-22 with the autovolume setting off. Any ideas what may have caused this? Is it an easy fix?

Yes. Disconnect it!

Seriously, it's a tiny lil guy, and its signal is created by summing the left & right channels together, so it has arguably the most information going to it! And it has roughly 1/3 the surface area of your left and right doors speakers!!
Plus, if you're gonna have a center, summing ISN'T the ideal way to create one. The system will sound better if you put it out of your misery.

I was concerned ... for a moment I thought I read that it didn't sound like Bieber's voice...

Just makin' sure that the problem was in the speaker. LOL

How do you disconnect the center speaker?

Pry the grill up and pull the connector out of it.
