Clear Bra on your Camaro?!
I'm on my 2nd 5th Gen Camaro.. first one was black, this one is Red... I sprung for a clear bra both times and I got really curious how many other peeps on here have done this...

first mod in 2010 when I got the car. Just purchased a Chevy Sonic last month, first mod on it as well. If you do a lot of highway/interstate driving, I feel you really benefit the most. Rolling 65-70mph, anything kicking up off the road will remove paint from the car.... don't care how good of paint it is.

I had my Camaro for about 2 months and we drove it on a trip from SW PA to Fayetteville, NC. On the trip I got several chips in the paint that would not have happened with a clear bra. A few months later I had the clear bra installed. I've driven it on several more trips since then with no additional chips. I'm sold.

How U Doin?

One of the first things I had done to my car. I only wish I would've had the "gill" area covered too being as though it's full of chips now.

Go to your local detail shop. Maybe even a paint shop. They can order and install. Biggest regret of my cars young life (I got the car as a pre-order in May 2009) is not getting a clear-bra. I had the chance too. I just didn't want the 'Different shinyness' on the front. Well it's a different shinyness now... Looks like it was sandblasted.

BTW, I'd do like Nick just said too. Do the gill area. ESPECIALLY if you get custom wheels with bigger offsets. My gill area looks like my front.

look up xpel or 3m and you can find authorized dealers/installers.
i'm very particular with my paint and i have the carbon flash color, which is basically black. i can see a few lines and bubbles and stretch marks when i really look, but under normal lighting conditions the film is basically unnoticeable. i mean you really have to know what you are looking for. installers are good but by no means will they do a perfect job most likely. it is not easy to install these things. and as always, the darker the car the harder to perfect. my only advice is not to get the hood and fenders bra'd. the lines on partial body panels are the most extreme and noticeable. if the installer follows the contour of the body panels, the rear gills can be pretty unnoticeable though. |
