high flow cat question

Just curious i was talking to a friend and he said i could put universal high flow cats on and i found set on ebay for about 165 $ So y wouldn't i be able to use these?

depends on hp...right now the name brand hiflow cats are showing some failure issues in the 550 rwhp range...some chinese aftermarket may be poor quality and fail even quicker..

What he said. I went the cheap eBay cats on my Silverado and burned them up in 3 months. I had them welded in right behind my pacesetter LTs.

you can do that , with no issues, but get a good brand. stay away from Chinese knock offs

I have a set from LG Motorsports sitting in my garage that I didn't use. They are 3" in and out.

Most of the cat failures we are seeing is from the fuel dump during deceleration on the dyo....the cats are at max temp and red hot inside and when you release the throttle quickly from a WOT run on the dyno all that raw fuel dumped into them fractures the strata.

Also, most of the ebay hi-flow cats I have seen are just universal checp replacements and are not an improvement over stock. Get good quality ones.
