Thumbs down Paint Quality

My dealer received a Red Jewel Metallic camaro in this weekend. Wow, I hope all the colors do not look like this car does. It has "Orange Peel" from front to back. Please G.M. take note of this problem and fix it! Has anybody else noticed this problem first hand? I know at this dealership it was the topic for discussion.

I've probably seen 10 show cars (which I suspect get the once over) and 10 production intent cars that have untouched factory paint jobs and they all looked great. Before you go slamming the paint, compare it to other factory paint jobs on the lot.

All of us there did. I do not feel that I am slamming the paint. I was asking if anyone else has seen an ordered car and noticed this. The car is in the showroom with plenty of other vehicles around. Again, there was 4 of us there and this is what was noticed. No, we did not come in together. I was the last one there.

Look at this picture and you'll notice the "orange peel" finish on the hood. Not considered to be a good quality paint job.

Thats exactly it. It was extremely noticeable down the sides, roof, and hood.

Yes, it's less than desireable, but not as big a deal as many make of it. As shown by Hylton's photo, it's ONLY noticeable at the RIGHT angle, in the RIGHT light. My 350Z has it, but it is rarely noticeable and not a problem for me....and I'd bet none of my friends know it has it.

Every new car has "orange peel".

Unless you want GM to wet sand every car that comes through the paint booth, and wait longer as well as pay for that service, it isn't realistic to expect a car without orange peel.

With the polishes out there, its easy to improve the paints appearance dramatically.

As far as the paint quality on the 5th Gen., I'm sure it's a very high quality.

Unless you're referring to Ferrari, or some "high end" mfr., they all have it.
