Are plugged tires balance-able?

Are plugged tires balance-able? One of my stock Pirelli's was punctured on the bottom, Discount Tire plugged it and and I went on my way. After, noticed an annoying vibration in the steering wheel at highway speeds. Took it back, and was basically told I had to live with it, plugged tires usually do this.

This tire has less than 4000 miles on it, any thoughts?

I never heard that before. Did they try re-balancing them?

Plugging should have no effect on the balancing of that wheel. I do not however like plugs on performance tires, as it compromises the speed rating.

I would take it to another shop have them dismount and patch the tire from the inside, and rebalance the wheel.

Have you ever got out of your car and noticed a rock caught in the tread. If you hadn't seen it you would not have known it was there.

If that does not cause a vibe, then the plug shouldn't either.

Plugs have zero to do with balancing. Sounds like they just didn't balance it properly. Even that being said, you shouldn't even need to dismount or rebalance a tire just to plug it. That sort of repair is done on a tire while still mounted to the wheel.

Removal and an internal patch are the preferred method of repair, but I've not had a properly installed plug ever fail, either.

Well I watched them pull it off the rim so maybe they patched from the inside and plugged it? I'll bring it back next week and have it rebalanced. Thanks for the inputs.

Taking the tire of the rim and re-mounting it throws the balancing off unless by some chance it was mounted in the exact same position.
