My first Camaro Ever - One Concern

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum, and I have a question. I thought this was the best place to ask since it's all about Camaros. So, I'm gonna be turning 16 in about half a year, and I really wanna get my hands on the 2012 2SS, or possibly a '13. My question was regarding buying one; my parents are willing to put down a $13k down payment, but their credit is terrible..will the dealership still let them drive it off the lot?

TL;DR Is my parents' credit going to affect whether or not I can drive my camaro off the lot?

anythings possible but im sure they will not like the interest rate or payment. ive seen people with multiple repos, bankruptcy and so on get car loans for stupid interest rates as high as 29%.

So if I'm correct in understanding, your saying the dealership would accept it, or probably not?

If your parents are willing to put down $13k, and their credit isn't too good, I'd definitely suggest you go with a used 2010 SS. You'll get a better deal for the situation you're in IMO.

Also probably a better idea to get a used car for you're first car. No offense at all intended. My sister flipped/rolled her first car. And I had 3 fender benders in my first car (a truck, and only 1 of the accidents was my fault).

Also, go with an m6. You'll get sh*t for driving an automatic when you're younger. No way around that.
If you can't drive a manual you'll learn quickly and easily, it's not hard at all.

Dealerships will accept you buying the car. It's the loan that is tricky. You may have to have the loan pre-approved through some other lender (Credit union, Bank, etc.). Another option would be to have a relative like an uncle co-sign on the car. The new relative's credit would probably be better.

The only things that REALLY turn me on about the car is the body look + the LED light ring on the lights..if the 2010 model has the lights, then I'll definitely settle :p

Yep as long as you get the RS package you will have the halo lights.

Do some research here on the forum and you'll learn a lot of good info. Any camaro equipped with the "RS" package will have the tell-tale "Halos" you are talking about.
Although if you go with a camaro that doesn't have the RS package no worries, you can upgrade using aftermarket companies like AAC.

So to answer your statement, any RS equipped 2010-2012 camaro has the Halos.

He LIES! lol.

I agree, a car like this might not be the best training aid or first car (tickets, accidents). Not saying you are an irresponsible driver or anything like that. I would practice if you don't know how to drive a stick on an older car.
Regardless of what happens, hope everything works out for you. I can vouch on the 29% rate. My buddy got screwed when he bought a truck once.

If your parents credit isn't good and they are putting a down payment on a new car I would feel TERRIBLE about having them get me a new car. Just get something cheap and earn it yourself when you can. But that's just me.

What do you guys think insurance will run for a 16 year old on the SS? That has got to be a hefty payment.

just go to a credit union to get financed, that way they will tell you how much car you can afford and at what rate. dont say your putting down that much. because once you get a rate. then whatever you put down is technically buying down the interest rate. i would go used though too. much better price
