Warped Plastic Vents on ZL1
Was a little concerned looking at the ZL1 that was at Barrett-Jackson. These plastic vents in the air-extractor hood were warped. Wonder if that'll be fixed by production time?

I used to be Dragoneye...

It wasn't a production car, so I wouldn't worry about it too much.
You hear they've held back exposed Carbon Fiber insert for Quality-Control concerns...they know how high-profile this Camaro is, of any in recent history. It'll be right. |

Those were hand built (....and not of the same material that we'll use on production ZL1s ...) about a year and a few months ago - I am quite concerned that they weren't replaced prior to the showcar being at Barrett-Jackson!

Definitely not a production car. Came back later and the hood was up. Lots of non-stock-looking black electrical tape everywhere. I think this thing's been rode hard and put away wet.

Yeah not production car, but should not be on display either . That might be the first first one they made, because a number of us way back when commented about those vents.

Huh. someone at GM is going to get an ear full. You're right Scott, that should have never left GM with that part like that. Just gives the compatition to much ammo to use against you guys.

I'm surprised the Carbon edition that they had at SEMA was not there that is very close to a production model

I kinda assumed at least part of the reason for the carbon fiber insert was the heat from the super charger.

With all the CTF ZL1's and production already starting for those weeks ago, I find it hard to understand why GM would still be trotting around this original prototype that was debuted last year at the Chicago Auto show.
Not only has it seen better days, it's also outdated with the eggcrate grill and different interior (steering wheel and shifter). Scott was upset that this car wasn't updated and fixed at the MCACN show late last year, so I'm not sure who's making the decision on this one here. Barrett Jackson is a big show, the ZL1 should have been represented a little better than that IMO.
