So who thinks Chrysler's Bankruptcy is...
A test run for GM? GM is in the same boat with bondholders that Chrysler is/was. Perhaps the Gov is testing the waters with Chrysler since it's alot smaller?

My best guess is that GM will follow as well ... Both companies will come out leaner and better able to compete ..

I think that Chrysler is the warning shot to bondholders that are not willing to renegotiate with GM. This shows that bankruptcy is an option that can be used for GM if necessary.

After I heard what the GM bondholders want, GM is definitely going under.

That's not a warning shot to bondholders as they will end up with a huge chunk of the company should GM go Chapter 11.

Chrysler was considered doomed for at least 3 months now, but its bankrupcy still serves as a good threat to everyone involved thinking "GM should do it my way, no matter the cost". I hope they will wake up and let GM prevail though. We wouldn't like Toyota or Honda to own Chevrolet brand, right?

My first thought when I heard Chrysler was going into Ch. 11 was that it would essentially be a trial run for a larger GM process. And bad bankruptcy at Chrysler would be less catastrophic than a bad bankruptcy at GM.
