Cold Air Intakes
Does anyone know if installing a cold air intake would void your warranty?

No it does not. It only voids the warranty if the source of the problem is found to be the cold air intake.

You would likely receive very minimal power gains from just a CAI. Just about anything that increaseses power and involves modification of the factory calibration (commonly referred to as "tune") will void your warranty.

I am not sure how much of an increase will be realized with a CAI. Chevy redesigned the intake in the ZL1 which helped it go up from 556HP to 580HP. Might not be a reason to change it.

A CAI will give you a louder intake sound under load, but doubt much more power unless other areas are also changed such as higher flowing heads, different cam, higher flowing cats and cat-back exhaust, tune, etc......and any of those would void your warranty :-)
I would leave everything the way it is. I am sure the engineers sweated the details on squeezing out all the HP/TQ they could on every component working together while delivering reliable high performance with a warranty. Coming from a guy that usually lasts about a month before he modifies his new cars to get "that little extra" ,I personally plan to leave this car alone and enjoy the synergy of the complete package. ......... well maybe I will add tint in the second month lol. |

Honestly. The ZL1 cones with a track warranty. Why would you want to mess with that. You could literally dump your clutch at 5,000rpm and chevy would still cover it.

Yep!! Andy at ADM Perf makes an intake. Paterned after his good looking sealed airbox and using a different powder coated tube to attach to the throttle body. I include a pic.

I was just at my dealer last week, Bryner Chevrolet in the Phila., PA suburbs... Don, my service tech told me GM has denied warranty on (2) 2011 Camaros due to aftermarket CAI systems, says they were found to cause issues with the MAF sensor...That's what he stated....

Not the most flexible dealer denying warranty and not cleaning the MAF and then advising the customer for future visits. |

I was thinking about getting a CAI by BBK for my 2011 Camaro LS V6. Any thoughts on this? I was also thinking about getting an exhaust, ARK-NII.
