normal operating temperature

I really need to know the normal operating temperature for my 2010 SS L99 Engine and Transmission.

13,000 miles

My readings are as follows:

Engine oil temp: steady at 230-235 (86 degree weather)

Transmission temp: 240 (with a bit of aggressive driving, never exceeded 240)
230-235 normally

Summer is up ahead, I live in a country where the temperature is constantly ranging between 110-120 from May to September :( and that has got me worried :(

Would appreciate your feedback and suggestions!

Oil temps look ok, but the transmission temp is way too high. Install an aux trans cooler and try to keep the trans temps around 180.

Get a 160 t-stat.

I would also get a front mount oil cooler and a big tranny cooler. 240 tranny temp is not good for longivity. The coolers will not void warrenty.

Is there a list of the normal operating temps for engine, oil, coolant and tranny and oil pressure? I have gauges that can monitor all of the temps., and I can set alerts but have to know the metrics (low - high) to set the thresholds.

The lower the better, within reason of course. I like my coolant temps around 180ish, oil temps around 190ish and tranny temps around 180sih.

Anything over 200 is too hot (from a performance standpoint).

1 week since i got the car, i have noticed that getting from point A to B regardless of distance my tranny temp is steady at 180.
BUT, the issue is when there is lots of traffic signals and stop and go traffic. temp reaches 230-235.

I bought flex-a-lite tranny cooler, didnt install it yet. Is it any good?

Any cooler added inline will be good.

I was out on the the freeway today for the first time since adding the headers and cam and my oil temp was just like yours, 230 or so, on a long mild uphill at about 80 in 6th. It was 83 degrees outside. I was wondering if that was high myself. Didn't pay attention to the transmission temperature since it's a manual.

I installed a 160 stat early on but my engine 'guru' states these engines are designed to perform at 190. Not my skill set so I defer. Even with the 160 stat and a 'fan reset' the coolest I ran was about 180 with ambient AT of 85 to 90. Just curious-my results/performance are not debatable so the 190 stat stays. Just wondering about the different schools of thought? Sorry if a bit off topic

A 160° thermostat doesn't mean the car will run at 160°. That's not how thermostats work. Stock is 186.8°. Running your engine at hotter temps is better for emissions, not for making power.

Thanks for the explanation. Think I'll query my tuner some more since I have 2 160 stats (one new and a slightly used one). A 160 actually came in my Whipple kit but was not used

I'm seeing coolant temps of almost 220 at the dragstrip if I don't let the car cool down. I def need a 160.
