Cam differences LS2 / LS3

Is there any real advantage of converting the LS3 cam / timing set to the LS2 ??????? I mean is the LS2 type setup stronger due to the 3 smaller bolts ???

No performance gain and you shouldn't have any issues with a single bolt cam. The biggest reason to convert before was lack of cam options in single bolt. Now that you can get single bolt cams and chains its less of an issue.

I do think it's worth it to get away from the loose style LS3 chain/tensioner and go to the tight, which I consider to be "normal" style chain like a C5.R setup, and a dampener though, like the LS2 and I believe LS7 and LS9 have. You can do that with EITHER a single or 3 bolt cam as both style cam sprockets are the same diameter and built for the same style chain. I thought I had heard about some failures of the single bolt setups...but I think there was some installer error there, doesn't seem like it's even something with the potential for a problem to me.

No power gains, but some guys like having 3 bolts instead of the single big bolt. With a good installer there's no problems at all with either.

I just did a single bolt cam in my car, and also did my friends ls2 GTO the same week. Personally I like the single bolt setup better, those 3 little bolts and the tensioner does not seem as strong to me. I feel its a wast to convert, but thats just my opinion.
