P0420 Code Popping Up...
Recently, I've been having issues with my car throwing a CEL. I got it tuned in late Dec/early Jan and everything was fine. 2 weeks ago, I noticed the CEL was on. Car felt fine, ran normally, nothing unusual. Had the codes run and it came out to be the P0420 code for cat deficiency or w/e, which was tuned out. Cleared the code and it didnt come back... until yesterday. Noticed the CEL on while driving around town. Had a friend pull the codes and it was the same P0420 code... I haven't had any problems in the last 2-3 months until 2 weeks ago.
Now my question is: What could be causing the code to keep coming on, even though I've already been tuned? All O2 sensor wires are connected, nothing looked unusual when I dropped my exhaust a couple days ago. Im currently out of town from where my tuner is, and I wont be back until next month for him to double check the tune, so I was wondering if anyone knew why Im getting the CEL all of a sudden. Thanks in advance! Edit: Would running 91 octane, then running 93, then putting 91 back in cause this? Reason why I ask, is because the night before the CEL came on, I was driving down from Oklahoma with a full tank of 91, filled up with 93 in Texas, then drove it the next morning when the CEL came on. Yesterday, I had just filled up with 91 the day before since I came back to OK... previously had 93 in the tank. Dont know if this affects anything, but figured I'd throw it in there, lol. |

The code would not come up if it was tuned out. Either it was missed or the code reader is spitting out the wrong code.

I havent had any problems for the last 2-3 months until now. 2 different code readers pulled the same code... I guess Im going to have to have the tune looked at again when I get back in town.
