timing is getting false knocks ???????????
YES THERE has been alot said about pulling the two fuses out of our veh as for timing issue, but it made me think of the chip tuning i did on my 1982 Z/28 Crossfire [ 13.1 quarer run's on street tires with crossfire 355] - I had a issue where i was chasing false spark knocks, and it made me think ?? --Our SS make alot of clutch and tran's, and drive line noises, and was wondering if anyone had heard of any issues with timing lowering because of false knock signals from drive train ???? was just curios..AS I HAD TO PUT WHAT I CALL A STRONGER KNOCK FILTER, OR SAY MODULE IN MY 82, AND USED ONE FROM LATER MODEL TRUCK[sorry for cap]-----. As for my 1982 z/28, THAT i had for 23 years,- it had a 1990 truck ecm, but was choped up, lol, and held what you could to refer as 7 chips, and i did my own reading and tuning of it,--could flip a switch to any bin file [chip] while driving ,,was pretty cool while i had it.

You can do that or adjust the knock tables in the tune. Depending on the OS the car has, some of them are just plainly F-ed up from the factory.

How are you sure it's false?
GenIV's do have some pretty agressive knock sensor settings, but these cars also have a pretty aggressive timing map in certain loads/rpms. |

Have stock SS here, but wondered if any possable way that stock v8 was detecting false knocks and it wasnt the gas issue,,AND GOING TO LOWER TIMING TABLE.. ??? and maybe false knocks getting picked up from our clutch/tran's/drivtrain..--Dont know how sensative the knock sensor really is in the new SS-- But the noise,, the new ss makes, would def set knock signals even in my 1982 camaro that i fought with....SO had to find a newer module [filter] that work with a newer sensor also that i had to install.-- And fixed all my false knocks that were detected in my tune, and retarting timing. -- But i was also able to adjust how much to back off timing when and if i did get any knocks..---Was another great thing to be able to adjust something so easy----------My 1982 was false knocks, as exhaust was hitting, body [headers] then after that i found out that the mods i did with the 1990 truck ecm needed the newer knock sensor then what orig 82 had, so i added knock sensor from 1990 truck, and new harness connn to hook it up and then added the same 1990 truck filter[or module] and yippie knocks gone

Its pretty common for these cars to pull 5-6 degrees of timing at WOT with the factory tune.

Experience with the cars helps alot. On some cars the knock table settings are completely wrong. Add the stupid high timing tables and over corrections it gets all screwed up.
