Hex Vent

How much could these help performance? I am in Texas and it gets humid and hot here. Will these keep the engine that much cooler and help the motor out a bit?

Keep's engine cooler and helps cool down engine faster. (cooler air = more horse power) I love mine.

With these vents, do they stop rain from getting in or filter it off somewhere else?

I think they have a rain deflector or something of the sort.

There is an optional plate that comes with them that you can install that will prevent most direct rainfall from hitting your engine. But during a good "down-pour", you're still going to get some water in there....

I really like the vents, but I have a hard time with the idea of cutting holes in my OEM hood, plus, the vents are like $500 direct from Hex Vent. Not sure if they are available elsewhere for cheaper???

Here's the link that explains everything: http://www.hexvent.com/

There are a couple of things to think about here... At speed... cruising or whatever, the rain doesn't enter them due to the air coming out of them...

Sitting still, there is an optional drip pan included that will capture the water and drain it off to the side of the motor... but it will limit the heat extraction a little..

I'm not putting any drip pan on, I get more rain through the grill than I will through the vent... Top of my motor is pretty boring to look at anyway... some water spots add to the illusion of a "stock" (unmodified) car...

I did my first tests at the track with the Hex Vent with the Water Deflection Trays installed. The heat extraction effect was great, even with them on, and when I removed them, I saw no improvement. So it works fine with or without the trays.

I'm loving mine! Bringing myself to cutting a hole in my hood was the hard part, but I did it and I don't regret it one bit. As for performance benefits, I'll let you know after my Twisted Reaper install at LMR in Houston. Hey if youre near there come check'em out!

I hate to say it but,the included splash trays are marginal at best keeping water out of the engine compartment.
Even just pouring a few ounces of water from a cup through the vent will overflow.

That being said,if you live where thunderstorms are frequent, you can make some external covers that keep all the water out
